Why a blog?

Little Frankie

After 35 great years in the pharmaceutical industry in various positions of, as they say, ‘increasing responsibility’, I decided to leave a phenomenal job with a great company to enjoy the fruits of my labor. As the regional leader of several hundred Sales Professionals in the Midwest, I worked with talented, bright people who were absolutely passionate about bringing the benefits of some excellent medicines to health care practitioners and their patients. The patient success stories I would witness, or hear about, fueled me and an entire sales team.

Still, entering my sixth decade with less patience for the requisite ‘process’ that drives corporate life, I decided to get serious about retiring. I hear too many stories of people who leave work late in life only to fall ill and miss out on all the things they had planned. I figured the time was right for me to step away. And now that I’ve thrown off the shackles it is time for a little adventure. After a full month of retirement I have ramped up the golf game and taken a long family vacation. Much more golf and much more travel is in my future, as well as time enjoying my precious little 2 month old grand-daughter. But I do have a bucket list. It’s not filled with dramatic experiences or monumental achievements. No particularly fascinating trips or encounters. Rather it is populated with unique experiences that make my kids laugh (derisively) and you will probably see their point. And that’s what my blog will be about: progress through my bucket list with interesting details along the way and a reflection on my learnings. So I hope you’ll come along for the ride. In fact, first up is my UBER-driving experience.

  1. Well Frank, we never met but , I too retired from the same company as you. I drove for Uber as my first experience. I can’t wait to read about your experience. I must say it gave me a lot of interaction with different individuals, and the ability to use my relationship skills. The issue I found was that as you know our company dramatically increased territory size and as a result there was a great deal of driving to see customers. This was my downfall with Uber, the back and knees started to act up again and I was only driving 3X per week. So good luck on your journey
